Distracted driving tickets have become very common and the penalties are no joke – first offence can mean a $615+ fine, 3 demerit points and a 3-day suspension. If it goes to court and you lose, it can get even higher. A lot depends on the exact circumstances and how the officer testifies. Many drivers manage to get the charge reduced or dismissed with good preparation. I recently saw useful information about defence strategies on this page from Traffic Paralegal Services https://www.trafficparalegalservices.com/distracted-driving/ It might be smart to at least get a free consultation before deciding to pay the ticket.
