Agrobiotechnology Talk Series (19) Soybean Industry in China and Asia: Today and Tomorrow (27 May 2022)

On 27 May 2022, ‘Soybean Industry in China and Asia: Today and Tomorrow’ was held online via zoom with a total of 118 participants attended. Soybean has been acting as a close partner of oriental civilization. Currently, this ancient crop is playing key role in safeguarding protein and edible oil supply to whole human society. In China, soybean is the bottleneck of food security as facing great changes not seen in a century. In the coming presentation, Prof. Tianfu Han will share the stories of soybean and soyfood in the Chinese history, introduce the current status of soybean production and trade in Asia, and summarize the research progress of soybean in China. In the last part, he will discuss the strategy of using soybean and soyfood to support the sustainable development of modern agriculture and well-off life of billions of people.

It is the 19th talk of a series aiming to promote agrobiotechnology and enhance understanding of the potential applications of agricultural products. The target audience includes international scholars, researchers, agricultural industry as well as the general public.
